MittoNet
IoT Data collection and control Protocol
15x less battery
Fast transmissions means 15 times less battery usage. A coin-cell battery lasts 3+ years when transmitting once per minute. You can even run it on solar-cells - completely without batteries!
Secure OTA update
Sensors and devices can receive security-updates and bug-fixes over-the-air (OTA). All devices has their own encryption-key for event-data and another for OTA updates.
No vendor lock-in
Any (G)FSK transceiver can be used for Gateway and End Device hardware. The protocol is hardware independent and anyone is free to implement it on any type hardware.
# Open source
We believe that being open builds trust and that openness leeds to competition and no vendor lock-in. We believe Customers and Makers should be free to customize their own solutions. Download and adapt the reference implementation to test out your prototype and develop it into a product.
# Data Collection protocol
The MittoNet protocol is purpose-built to support for data collection from sensors and specifies:
- Wireless physical layer protocol
- Wireless application layer protocol
- Gateway to Network-Server protocol
# Control protocol
The MittoNet protocol has been designed to support control of sensors, PLCs or industrial equipment using off-line protocols Modbus, CAN or KNX. Using the MittoNet protocol, developers can focus on creating value for their company, not re-inventing yet another IoT protocol (YaIP).
# Secure devices with OTA Update
Everyone knows that being able to update your devices is the only way to keep them secure. MittoNet has support for OTA built into the protocol itself, so device designers done have invent their own.
# No vendor lock-in and no certification costs
Being free to choose any FSK transceiver, allows for low cost and supports innovation. This opens the possibility for using very low-cost microcontrollers, like Bluetooth® chips, but without the certification costs.
